À la première utilisation, il est recommandé de laisser votre bougie brûler jusqu'à ce que la totalité de sa surface soit liquide (environ 2 à 2h30). Cela permet d'harmoniser le niveau de cire et d'éviter qu'une cavité ne se forme autour de la mèche. Prenez ensuite soin de la mèche de votre bougie en la taillant régulièrement (environ 5 mm), afin d'empêcher l'apparition de fumée et de dépôts disgracieux. Après chaque utilisation, recentrez la mèche. Il est également conseillé de ventiler la pièce. Ne laissez pas votre bougie brûler entièrement, de sorte qu'il reste au moins 5 mm de cire non fondue dans le verre. Votre bougie est entièrement consumée ? Donnez-lui une seconde vie, par exemple en photophore, en pot de fleurs ou bien en pot à crayons !
